and rate SaaS tools
Every tool on StackList is researched, verified, and scored against a consistent framework. Here's exactly how we do it.
Who reviews the tools
StackList is an independent editorial team. We are not owned by any software vendor, and no company can pay to influence its rating or position in the directory. Sponsored placements are always labelled clearly and never affect our scores.
What we verify before listing
- Product is live — we confirm the tool is commercially available and actively maintained.
- Clear pricing — the vendor must publish transparent pricing; we record the starting price as of our review date.
- Privacy & GDPR — we check for a privacy policy, and where applicable a Data Processing Agreement and EU/UK data residency.
- UK relevance — we evaluate whether the tool genuinely serves UK businesses, including UK integrations, support, and compliance.
Our scoring framework
Each tool is scored out of 5.0 across five weighted criteria:
- Features & capability — depth of functionality for the intended team size.
- Ease of use — onboarding time, interface quality, and daily usability.
- Value for money — what you get at the starting price versus competitors.
- Integrations — native connections to tools UK businesses actually use (Xero, Slack, Stripe, GoCardless and similar).
- Compliance & trust — GDPR posture, security certifications, and data residency.
Scores are rounded to one decimal place. The displayed review count reflects aggregated third-party review data we collect from public sources at the time of review; it is refreshed periodically.
Our sources
We gather information from four sources: (1) hands-on testing where the product offers a trial; (2) the vendor's public documentation, pricing, and security pages; (3) public review data from third-party platforms; and (4) user feedback submitted to us via editorial@stacklist.co.uk.
How often we update
Pricing and product details change fast. We re-verify each listing at least quarterly, and immediately when vendors notify us of changes. You can always email editorial@stacklist.co.uk to report outdated information.
Editorial independence
Listings are never ranked by advertising spend. Paid plans (Basic, Pro, Sponsored) affect placement and badges only — they never change a tool's score. If a sponsored tool underperforms, it keeps its score and loses the sponsored position.
Corrections & feedback
We aim for accuracy and transparency. If you spot an error in a listing, email editorial@stacklist.co.uk and we will review and correct it within 5 business days.
